The Israelis and the Palestinians are again discussing peace. America is in the middle and again, terrorism starts up when they sit down. Will this be different, or just a farce?
Call me a pessimist, say I have no faith in the improbable, but I have a better chance of becoming the world’s first Jewish Pope before Israel and her Arab neighbors have peace.
How many times have we seen this over the decades? What does it accomplish besides photo ops? One thing I know for sure that happens every time these people sit down and talk peace is a rise in terrorism against the Israeli people.
Okay, I know what you are thinking, what about Israel and Egypt? Yes, I know, I was in Israel when Sadat came to Jerusalem and spoke at the Israeli Knesset (Parliament).
I stood on an over pass and watched as Sadat’s motorcade drove past. From Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem, the entire highway along the motorcades route had Israeli and Egyptian flags flying on every other light post. It is something I will never forget. But Abbas is no Sadat and Palestine is no Egypt.
I will also never forget our best friends who lived in Yamit, a beautiful, modern town just south of the Gaza Strip in the middle of the desert. They had to vacate their home along with 2500 other people that lived there because in order to have “peace” Israel had to “return” the entire Sinai desert to Egypt. That is of course minus the Gaza Strip which Egypt flat out refused to take.
As usual, Israel gave in because of her overwhelming desire to have “Shalom” with one of her greatest enemies.
I also remember the first Intifada (uprising) that began in 1987 and “supposedly “ended with the Oslo accords in 1993, oh and yes, I remember all the death on both sides.
According to the Encyclopedia of the Middle East website, using reports from the Betselem website, (The Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories):
During the "official" Intifada period, to the end of 1991, a total of 84 Israelis were killed according to Betselem. In the 2 "quiet" years following, 95 Israelis were killed! In the two years after that, the first full years of the Oslo process, 120 Israelis were killed. In less than 3 months at the end of 1993, after the signing of the Oslo accords, 19 Israelis were killed. According the Israeli figures it is less dramatic. 121 Israelis were killed from 1987 through 1991, but only 110 if we exclude deaths before the start of the Intifada - 110 deaths in 4 full years is an average of about 28 per year. In the two following years, another 79 Israelis were killed - almost 40 per year. In 1995-96, 85 Israelis were killed according to the From the point of view of Israeli fatalities, there is no way to determine the end of the first Intifada and the beginning of the period of supposed calm, because there was no such period. 1991 was a relative low point, but the number of fatalities was not as low as it was in the quietest years of 1980. For Palestinian fatalities, 1990 and 1991 were relative low points, but the years following produced more fatalities. Again, looking only at fatalities, the numbers do not support the idea that the First Intifada really began or ended at a specific point, though 1991 was the quietest year in the Intifada.
So what’s a few hundred people? We need to remember that Israel is a nation of about 7 million people, but in 1987 there were only 3 million Jews living there. Putting these numbers into per capita, each time there was a terrorist attack it was the equivalent to the U.S. losses on 9/11.
That’s not overall, that is every day. Can you even begin to imagine 9/11 happening daily? But of course this is all brought to you by the “religion of peace”.
Now, for this round of talks the man in the middle is President Obama and to say he is not truly “in the middle” when it comes to Israel and Palestine would be a huge understatement.
I could write an entire article on the things Obama has done that are anti-Israel and pro Palestine and the Arab world or all the statements he has made that show where he really sits, but unless you have been living under a rock for the past 19 months, you already know all this. He certainly does not sit “in the middle”.
How can Obama’s administration even begin to broker any kind of peace when it is so one sided?
Let us put things into perspective for a moment. This is not, and has never been, about land. The Arabs that surround Israel have a land mass that is 649 times larger and a population that is 49 times larger. Maybe that doesn’t explain things well enough. The Arab neighbors of Israel have 13,486,861 square kilometers of land, Israel has 20,770. The population of Israel’s neighbors in 2001 was 292,400,267 people and Israel had an overall population of 5,938,093.
Yet… Each and every time throughout history when Israel has been attacked she has been asked to show restraint by the United States. In 1948, 1967, 1973 throughout all the terror, the bus bombings, over 12,000 rockets fired on civilians, café, mall and restaurant bombings, during the first Gulf wars, Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm while scuds were shot from Iraq in to Israel, America told Israel to “stand down”.
So, if other Presidents and administrations that were certainly more pro-Israel consistently asked Israel to show restraint, how can someone like Obama be a fair peace broker? He can’t and he won’t.
This administration refuses to secure America’s borders and yet is going to try and broker a deal with Israel and her sworn enemies while keeping Israel, her borders and her people safe? This is a joke, right?
America has always known which side their bread is buttered. The Arabs have the oil, period. Israel has always been and will always be the scapegoat. Israel is always wrong or as Netanyahu so pointedly stated after the Gaza Flotilla incident “But I regret to say that for many in the international community, no evidence is needed. Israel is guilty until proven guilty.”
The Hamas charter explains it well:
"Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it." (The Martyr, Imam Hassan al-Banna, of blessed memory).
"There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors."
The Hamas charter even quotes the Hadith:
"The Day of Judgement will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Muslims, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkadtree, would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews." (related by al-Bukhari and Muslim).
People in the Gaza Strip were once again dancing in the streets and handing out candy in celebration of the murder of 4 Israeli civilians, including a pregnant woman, on August 31. Hamas spokesman Abu Ubaida stated:
"The attack was a message to those who pledged to the Zionist enemy there would be no more attacks”.
Mahmoud al-Zahar, a co-founder of Hamas, added:
"Today marks the start of direct negotiations between someone who has no right to represent the Palestinian people and the brutal occupier, to provide a cover for Judaizing [sic] Jerusalem and stealing the land," he said.
Al-Zahar said liberating all the land between the Mediterranean and the Jordan River is both a moral and religious duty for Muslims and armed resistance (a euphemism for terror attacks) is the way to defeat the occupiers.
The only thing that will come out of this round of talks is more photos for Obama to use while he continues to campaign for the democrats in the upcoming mid-term elections. His approval rating among the Jewish population is dropping faster than any other group according to the New York Times.
The talks will cause more terrorism in Israel and lead to more talks that will lead to more terror that will lead to more talks.
You can call me a pessimist, but I am sorry people. I am a realist.
This article is dedicated to a dear friend and co-worker who drowned this past week while swimming. Karl, you were taken from us all far too early and will be missed more than you know. May you rest in peace my friend.

Nothing to see, hear or watch. These talks
will get Israel nothing but more pressure to
make further concessions while the arabs
give up little, if anything. Talks beget
terror for Israel and the Jews."People in the Gaza Strip were once again dancing in the streets and handing out candy in celebration of the murder of 4 Israeli civilians, including a pregnant woman, on August 31. Hamas spokesman Abu Ubaida stated:

The above states it all for me. They were
dancing in the streets just like they
always do when Jews or Americans are killed.
Bibi should agree to talks only when those
in gazastan held hostage by their arab
brothers in arms agree to leave and go
back to Jordan and Lebanon. Oops, the only
problems with that is NO ONE wants the poor
palestinians from gazastan.

There is no reason for 'talks. Israel is a sovereign nation that has every right to protect itself. Its allies are sworn to aid her if needed. Wake up America. We are talking about people here who have held more restraint than any other country ever would!
